The Times of India reported this as follows: A 12-year-old girl died while playing in a park near her house at Vadavalli on the outskirts of Coimbatore on Tuesday.

The girl, identified as A Akshaya, was studying in Class 7 at Chinmaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School.

On Tuesday, which was a holiday on account of Milad-un-Nabi, Akshaya left home at 2.30pm to go to the park. Her parents told police that she would go to play in the park every day and so they let her go alone. However, there was nobody in the park at that time.

She parked her cycle near the gate and began playing. When she climbed the playground slide, her shawl got stuck at the ends of the slide. As she tried to slide, she fell on the side and was hanging.

A neighbour, who saw Akshaya hanging, informed her father. They rescued her took her to a hospital. However, she died before reaching hospital.

That was the end of the report. We believe children should not be left alone in any case and playing should be under adult supervision. The dress also looks played an important role in this episode. These are important pointers for the parents in the future.

We deeply and sincerely mourn the loss of a young child.
