The session was organized with the motive of creating awareness among women students about the threatening abuses.
Principal Dr.K. Chitra delivered the Presidential Address. She insisted that women must be self-dependent and self-reliant. She quoted Mahatma Gandhi’s saying “The day a women can walk freely on the road at night, the day we can say that India has achieved independence”.
She also added that women are gifted with the talent of intuition by birth but they are ignorant about it. She also insisted the students to read newspapers daily to update themselves. She also highlighted the importance of practicing yoga to maintain a healthy physique and to practice self-defense techniques to protect themselves from abuses.
Mrs. Latha Sundaram, Managing Trustee of Aram Foundation Charitable Trust, in her address said, “Dignity of women is the most important aspect. If a women can’t do something in this would, then nobody can do it. That is the power a women holds. Women are the strongest creation of God. Systematic abuse and opportuniatic abuse are the two types of abuses women are subjected to”. She also emphasized students that “You must be the change you want to see in this world”.
Mr.D. Shivakumar, Advocate & Trustee of Aram Foundation Charitable Trust demonstrated to the students how to counter the act of abuse. Mrs.D. Shivakumar, Mr. Gokulraj and Mr. Vivek hosted sessions to train the participants on various self-defense techniques.
