Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College had organized ‘Vision Nano 17’ a one-day annual national seminar on Nanomaterials research. The college had established the department of nanotechnology in 2012 with the research investment of ₹3 crores.
The department with state of the art research laboratories and expert faculty members are involved in active research and has also received research funds from DST, CSIR & Cameron.
Eminent scientists and academicians Dr.V. M. Pillai, CECRI Karaikudi – Dr. Abraham John, GRI, Dindigul – Dr. John Philip, IGCAR, Kalpakkam – Dr. Tiju Thomas, IIT, Madras participated in the programme. They talked about Nanofluids, Environmental resources, smart materials, batteries and bio applications. They also mentioned that nanotechnology had wide variety of applications and potential ranging from health care, aeronautical, mechanical, safety to energy and environmental sectors, but there is less awareness among young students.
